Kurt's Games for 2010

Postby kurtoons » Sun Jan 24, 2010 2:22 pm

Not a lot of activity here on the forum yet, so I thought I'd kick things off by hyping the games I plan on running at this year's Fire & Ice. I wasn't able to make last year's event and I'm looking forward to a good time this year.

First of all, let me mention a game I won't be running. This year I'm passing a tradition down to the next generation. My daughter Madeline will be running the traditional Teenagers From Outer Space game. For those unfamiliar with the game, TFOS is a wacky RPG inspired by Japanese Anime. It's set in your typical American high school, only with aliens. And demons. And giant robots. And soulful vampires that may or may not sparkle. And hoverbikes. And big, honkin' zap guns. I like to describe it as what if Jughead were an alien, Archie's jalopy was outfitted with antigrav and Veronica carried tactical nukes in her purse. Except much weirder. Maddie will be running TFOS at 9:00 am on Saturday.

At 2:00 pm on Saturday, I'll be running a Space 1889 game, an adventure set in a Steampunk world where Thomas Edison invented space travel and the British Empire extends to Mars. You'll face intrigue and danger on the ancient Martian canals, fight the savage tribes of the highlands and unravel a strange mystery hidden in the planet's polar icecaps. I'll be using GURPS rules for this and my other games. GURPS is a generic system; it's rules a pretty easy to follow and don't require a lot of familiarity.

On Sunday at 9:00 am, I'll be bringing back Hannibal Tesla Adventure Magazine, a Pulp-Era game, once again using GURPS rules. Set in the 1930s, this game is a tribute to action heroes such as Doc Savage and Indiana Jones. A rare document called the Book of Aztlan has been stolen and it's up to you find who has taken it and what is their insidious scheme!

Finally, at 2:00 pm on Sunday, I'll be running a Supers game featuring the Justice League of America. Something has caused all technology to become inoperative and magic rules supreme! Can even the mighty JLA save the day!

If you have questions about any of my games, drop me a reply here or stop by our Dealer's table at the con. See you there!
